Missed HARP
HARP Option 4 will reopen March 10 at 7:30 a.m. for students who missed the opportunity to sign up for on-campus housing during the published dates, off-campus students or students who would like to make changes as well.
Tips for Success
- Help is available at the bottom of each screen of the online HARP by clicking on the appropriate word or button.
- You must complete all screens--from verifying/changing your personal preferences through the survey.
- If you missed your date/time period to sign up for your room, you may sign up during any other later option EXCEPT Option 3.
- The program will notify you if your room, hall, etc, is not available for sign-up.
- To speed up the process, you should plan three different choices prior to sitting down to begin the HARP. Hundreds of students will be signing up during the HARP, and some of your room choices may not be available.
- To more quickly note non matches between your preferences and the person already assigned to the room, the preferences will display in RED.
- All campus buildings including residential facilities are smoke-free.
- Staff will be available at the University Housing office, 1112 Pullen between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (M-F). You may call, email or stop by our office for assistance.
- Please take a moment to complete the brief survey at the end of the process. Your comments and suggestions help us improve subsequent HARPs.
- Watauga Hall is for upper-division students only. New freshmen may not be selected as a preferred roommate.
Administrative Move Information
If you received an Administrative Move email, you must choose another room, either in the same hall or, if that hall is closed out, in another hall/campus. Please follow Options 3 and 4 unless you are a preferred roommate of someone signing up during Options 1 or 2.
As a student involved in an Administrative Move (Option 3) you may bring a preferred roommate who is not involved in an Administrative Move. During Option 3, you as the administrative move student have a higher sign-up priority, thus you must be the first student to initiate the assignment process during Option 3. The preferred roommate may then log in and confirm his/her assignment during Option 3.
Hall/Room Availability
- Owen and Tucker Residence Halls will not appear in HARP.
- Alexander, Bagwell and Turlington Residence Halls will only appear in HARP for those students approved to return to the Living and Learning Village for 2009-10.
- Certain floors/suites/rooms reserved for Living and Learning Villages will only be visible to students approved to return to the Living and Learning Village for 2009-10.
- For 2009, HARP spaces are being held in Bowen, Carroll, Metcalf, Bragaw, Lee, and Sullivan Residence Halls.
What if I live in a Residence Hall Single Room?
Students who wish to return to their single room must sign up during Option 1. You will not be automatically reassigned to your current single room. If you wish to live in a different single room, please sign up for your current single and contact Housing at 1112 Pullen Hall to discuss your request.
What if I am involved in a Living & Learning Village or Special Program?
Students involved in a special program or living & learning village will receive an email outlining the process to complete the HARP. Students will receive further information from their respective programs. Students not re-selected or who choose not to return to the Villages should follow HARP sign-up instructions.
Alcohol-free Options
Alcohol-Free Halls: Lee, Sullivan, Bowen, Carroll, Metcalf, Owen, Tucker, Turlington, Bagwell, Berry, Becton, Gold, Syme, Welch, Wood A and B.
Preferred Roommates
Your selected room must have two vacancies.
Your preferred roommate cannot already have a fall assignment.
Preferred roommates must be eligible in order to be requested during the process. You will be required to enter his/her name to reserve the second space.
Once you have completed the HARP an email will be sent to your requested roommate containing instructions and the time by which the requested roommate must confirm the assignment if desired. If the requested roommate does not confirm his/her assignment by the time the option ends, the space will be available for future options. Requested new freshmen, transfers, or co-op students will be confirmed by Housing. An incoming New Freshman (except in upper-division halls) or Transfer student may be requested as a roommate if he/she has been accepted to NC State. Co-op and enrolled off-campus students may be requested as a roommate.
Room Changes
Once you have completed the HARP, you may log back in anytime during the options except for Option 3 and change rooms or buildings for you and/or your roommate, provided the roommate has completed the HARP. Room changes are subject to available space.
In case of a room change involving your preferred roommate, the roommate will have until the end of the Option to confirm the room change request. Once you have completed the room change request, an email will be sent to your preferred roommate containing instructions and the end time by which the requested roommate must confirm the assignment if desired. If you or your roommate does not wish to confirm the reservation, do nothing and your reservation will be deleted at the end of the current option.
