- In order to be hired for a graduate assistant position within University Housing, you must be admitted to the Graduate School and a graduate program.
- If you are interviewing at OPE and/or SPE you do not need to have applied to the graduate school, academic department, or with us in advance. You will need to be registered as a candidate with one of those exchanges and be granted an interview.
- University Housing will interview interested candidates that are qualified for our positions on Higher Education Department (HED) Visitation Weekend only when that academic department has extended an invitation to candidates who are eligible for admittance.
Basic Timeline of Our Process
- Once your online application and current résumé are received you should hear something back via email within 2-3 business days. If we are interested in pursuing your candidacy further, we will provide additional information.
- After we receive your application and résumé, our selection committee will review your application and we will determine your eligibility for an on-campus interview. If that is the case, the interview lasts one full day (8am - 5pm) and would most likely occur on a day from mid March to early April. (We provide lodging and meals, but not travel reimbursement for the interview.)
- Pending hiring conversations after candidates interview on campus, we make offers on a rolling basis. These decisions are contingent on a candidate’s acceptance into graduate school. We also take into account an individual’s fit with our department and different positions.
