Missing Students
Anyone who has concerns or knowledge that a student may be missing should contact the University Police or University Housing if the student is an on-campus resident. If a report is made to University Housing, Housing staff will immediately contact NC State University Police to initiate an investigation.
Each enrolled student who resides in on campus housing must register a confidential contact person to be notified in the case he or she is determined to be missing for more than 24 hours. Only authorized campus officials and law enforcement officers in furtherance of a missing person investigation may have access to this confidential contact information. If the missing student is less than 18 years of age and not emancipated, their parent or guardian will be notified.
Once information on missing persons is reported to police, an investigation will be conducted in accordance with North Carolina law and University Police General Order 500-13 (Missing Persons).
