S.T.A.T.E. (Second Year Transitions and Transfer Experience)

Students relaxingThe S.T.A.T.E. program provides second year and transfer students with opportunities to make the most of their NC State experience by focusing on the six core pillars essential to student success: Academic Success, Career Development, Community and Global Engagement, Diversity, Leadership, and Life Skills.

S.T.A.T.E. program residents live in Wolf Village (Red and Gray Halls) and are encouraged to participate in academic and career exploration events, strong peer and mentoring relationships, civic and community engagement, and service learning experiences. S.T.A.T.E. not only emphasizes student success at NC State, but also in the 21st century workforce.

Why S.T.A.T.E.?

Students experience a number of transitions at college that are both challenging and rewarding. Our program is designed to help residents adjust to transitions they face as second-year or transfer students. Generally, students only focus on their transition to NC State and their transition to the "real world," but the S.T.A.T.E. Program guides students through all the activities happening between their initial move-in and graduation.

S.T.A.T.E. also connects students to a variety of campus resources and programming meant to navigate their years following their freshman experience. S.T.A.T.E.'s partners in student success include the Career Center, Tutorial Center, Center for Student Leadership Ethics and Public Service (CSLEPS), Study Abroad Office, Co-Op Office, Welcome Week, Career Fairs, and Alternative Spring Break trips.
