Want to stay up-to-date on the construction progress of Wolf Ridge at Centennial? We'll post monthly updates here.
June 2013
University Housing is nearing the home stretch for Tower and Lakeview halls with less than 50 days until opening on August 1, 2013. Contractors are finishing painting and installing windows and the finishing touches for each apartment, including kitchen cabinets, tile floors, light fixtures, ceiling fans, carpet and more.
Wolf Ridge at Centennial is beginning to look like the finished product now that the lobbies and lounges are painted and the brick is complete. University Housing has selected the furniture for the common spaces and the individual apartment spaces. Permanent power is also complete and Telecom wiring is underway. Roofing, dry wall and elevator installation is also nearly complete with more than 480,000 man-hours expended on the project so far.
Grounds crews have begun landscaping and constructing sidewalks along the exterior of the buildings and along the interior of the property to accompany the pedestrian path between Engineering Building III and Tower Hall. Trees were planted along Initiative Way and the top of the new parking lot and University Housing is securing bike racks and other outdoor furniture for the green areas surrounding the buildings.
Campus Enterprises has announced the name of the on-site bookstore: The Pack Shop. The store will carry a combination of snacks, school supplies and branded Wolfpack gear. Wolf Ridge will also have a full-service dining facility, On the Oval, on the first floor of Tower Hall. With indoor and outdoor seating for more than 420 people, residents, faculty, staff, campus partners and visitors to On the Oval can choose between four micro-restaurants. Cold Fusion will offer sandwiches, wraps and salads with fresh bread, meats and cheeses. Fahrenheit will provide artisanal pizza with seasonal meats and toppings. Flashpoint will focus on traditional Asian dishes with customizable sauces. Newton’s Grill and Newton’s Diner both will offer a breakfast and traditional diner menu.
Once the property is complete, University Housing and University Dining will be offering tours. Look for more information on these tours as construction nears completion.
May 2013
With fewer than 90 days until the apartments, Wolf Ridge at Centennial, open on August 1, 2013, plenty of work continues on the inside of Tower and Lakeview Halls. Contractors are busy painting interior walls, installing apartment ceilings, windows, light fixtures, cabinetry, showers, bathroom tile and flooring. Telecom wiring installation also began this month in Tower and Lakeview Halls while interior accent walls for Lakeview lobbies and lounges were recently painted. University Housing is busy selecting furniture for the lobbies, lounges and other common spaces.
The site is a bee hive of activity! More than 480,000 man-hours have been expended on the Wolf Ridge project thus far. The exterior brick for Tower and Lakeview halls is complete. Permanent power is also nearly complete in each building, as well as roofing, elevator and dry wall installation. Soon work will begin on sidewalks between buildings and along the interior of the property to accompany the pedestrian path between Engineering Building III and Tower Hall. Grounds crews recently planted trees along the new road and the top of the new parking lot. University Housing is securing bike racks and other outdoor furniture for the green areas surrounding the buildings.
April 2013
On April 18th, several members of NC State's Inter-Residence Council (IRC) enjoyed a guided hard hat tour of the Wolf Ridge Apartments construction site. Here's a gallery with some of the sights they got to see.
March 2013
The exterior brick and roofing for both Tower and Lakeview Halls is coming to completion. Installation of the glass curtain walls is also complete in Lakeview Hall, but continues in Tower Hall. Inside both buildings elevator installation, window installation and drywall wrapping continues as the individual apartments begin to take shape. Soon crews will begin installing light fixtures, cabinets, flooring and bathroom tiles in each suite.
University Housing is also busy selecting furniture for Wolf Ridge lobbies and other common spaces. We are also securing bike racks and other outdoor furniture for the green areas surrounding the buildings. Construction also began on a new pedestrian path between Engineer Building III and Tower Hall. Grounds crews planted trees along the new road and top of the new parking lot.
University Housing also sampled the new LED lights for the tower outside Tower Hall. The lights will wash the exterior of the building so the tower glows at night. The tower of Tower Hall will eventually link to the light schedule of the Memorial Belltower on main campus, so both will glow red whenever a significant campus event occurs. University Housing is also exploring other lighting options with the LED lights throughout the year. We hope to use a pink light for the tower to show support when NC State celebrates the Hoops for Hope game.
February 2013
This month, nearly all the exterior brick was laid on Lakeview Hall and Tower Hall brick should be complete by March. The roofing on both halls is also nearly complete, while window installation began in Lakeview Hall and elevator installation continued in Tower Hall. The next step for Lakeview Hall is to install drywall so the rooms and suites begin to take shape. Construction also began this month on a new pedestrian path between Engineer Building III and Tower Hall.
January 2013
Exterior brick is now being laid on Tower and Lakeview Halls at Wolf Ridge. You can really see the transformation of the buildings from the second floor of the new Hunt Library. The next big construction focus is elevators and window installation to keep the weather out of the buildings. Before constructing the interior walls with drywall, the buildings must be completely dry. During the next few weeks, grounds crews will also plant trees along the new road and top of the new parking lot. Since the begining of the project, there has been a total of 343,884 man hours worked on Wolf Ridge.
November 2012
Less than a month from the one year groundbreaking anniversary of Wolf Ridge at Centennial, University Housing's Centennial campus apartment project is moving along at a rapid pace. As of late October, Tower and Lakeview halls had topped out, meaning the steel and concrete block is constructed to the top of the buildings. These two structures have reached their final height. The structure of the third building known as Plaza Hall is also nearly complete. While it's obvious from the outside that the project is making headway, what's not visible is how each building is starting to take shape on the inside. Metal wall framing, or the interior walls between bedrooms and bathrooms, is being constructed in Tower and Lakeview halls. In addition to framing the walls, crews are working to finalize electric, plumbing, and HVAC systems in the halls.

The structure of the third building known as Plaza Hall is also nearly complete. "We are moving along as planned, and it's exciting to see this project really start to take shape," said Facilities Manager Pete Fraccaroli. During the next 30 days, crews will begin to lay the brick veneer on the outside of the buildings and begin roofing activities.

September 2012
Wolf Ridge at Centennial is quickly taking shape. As of late September, all the site utilities had been installed including water, sewer, storm drainage, power, and more. In addition, all the building slabs have been poured and we are "going vertical" with steel and concrete on all six buildings. In the two buildings opening fall 2013, Tower Hall and Lakeview Hall, we have started framing interior walls and installing plumbing and HVAC. "We're really happy with the progress so far," said Pete Fraccaroli, facilities manager for University Housing. "We've got great contractors and architects and the project is moving along on schedule." By the end of November, we anticipate completing the skeletons of the two primary buildings.
