Justin’s defining characteristics are his dedication to improving the natural environment and his selfless attention to the quality of the department’s programs. His ability to relate to managers and scientists and his mentoring of graduate students are highly praised. His work as a volunteer firefighter on several large western forest fires over the last several years, as well as serving as the GIS incident specialist on the devastating Evans Road fire, earn him the characterization of hero.
