Special Events and Incentive Programs
The mission of NC State is to promote its mission to serve its students and the people of North Carolina as a doctoral/research-extensive, land-grant university The University recognizes the all that its employees do to further that mission, and each year, several events are held to honor employees for longevity, hard work, and creative ideas.
Service Recognition Luncheon (every August)
Departments present service awards to staff employees on a monthly basis. Employees are eligible to receive such a service award once every five years. Each August, NC State hosts a Service Recognition Luncheon. This luncheon honors the departments' monthly service award recipients as well as employees with 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of employment.

State Employee Incentive Bonus Program
The Office of State Personnel administers an Employee Incentive Bonus Program to encourage employees to share new and creative ideas for improving state government. The program also provides an objective review and evaluation of employee suggestions by a Review Committee qualified to judge the merits of each evaluation to ensure that appropriate recognition is given to the employees for their suggestion.
Any full-time, part-time or temporary state employee who receives a State paycheck or is a member of a qualified State Retirement System is eligible. When a suggestion results in monetary savings to the state, a monetary award of 20% of the annual savings from the first year (up to a limit of $20,000 for an individual; $100,000 total for a team) the suggestion is in place will be granted to the suggester.
When an adopted suggestion results in non-monetary benefits to the state, a non-monetary award will be granted. Possible awards include up to 3 days of special leave with pay and a certificate. For complete details on the program, see the State Employee Incentive Bonus Program.
