Term Details - Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
A federal act of 1993 which requires employers to provide up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to eligible employees for the employee's own serious health condition, the serious health condition of an immediate family member, or the birth or adoption of a child by the employee; during the F&MLA period, health insurance coverage for an eligible employee is maintained by the employer
