Term Details - Permanent Residence Status
A person with permanent residence status is qualified to pay in-state tuition. To have such a status, this person must have a physical presence in North Carolina and demonstrate that he/she is doing such things as paying state taxes, maintaining an NC driver's license, registering his/her car in NC, maintaining a bank account in NC or other acts that serve as intent to reside in NC. Generally, a person can establish this intent within 12 months. For more information, contact the NC State Office of Legal Affairs.
