Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. A tax processing number only available to certain non-resident and resident aliens, their spouses and dependents who do not qualify for a Social Security Number but who are required to file a U.S. tax return. It is a nine digit number, formatted like a Social Security Number (NNN-NN-NNNN) and begining with a "9".
