Term Details - Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

The federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, sometimes also referred to as the “Buckley Amendment.” This federal law provides students with considerable rights regarding the privacy of, and access to, their education-related records. Employees and representatives of the University are expected to comply fully with this law and should consult before disclosing any student-related information, even to a student’s parent.
