Essential Personnel |
Designated as “Essential” under NC State REG 04.20.7: Adverse Weather and Other Emergency Conditions. These are employees whose physical presence at the workplace is essential and required for the operation of the institution, and the employee is required to report to (or remain at) work, regardless of the adverse or emergency condition. |
Mandatory Personnel |
Designated as “Mandatory” under NC State REG 04.20.8: Pandemic and Communicable Disease Emergencies. These are employees whose physical presence at the workplace is mandatory and required for the operation of the institution In the event of a pandemic or a communicable disease emergency, the employee will be physically required to report for, or remain at work in emergency situations. |
Key Personnel |
Designated as a “Key” position that is expected to work – but that can do so remotely from home or an alternate location, rather than being physically present at their regular worksite – when the university announces a decision to close, delay, or cancel activities due to emergency conditions such as adverse weather or a pandemic emergency. |
Essential + Mandatory Personnel |
Designated as both “essential” under REG 04.20.7 (Adverse Weather), and “mandatory” under REG 04.20.8 (Pandemic Disease). This is an uncommon designation, since the individuals needed to be on campus responding to an adverse weather or similar event are typically not the same as those who would need to be on campus during a pandemic illness closing. |
Essential + Key |
Designated as both “essential” (must be physically present under REG 04.20.7: Adverse Weather) but “key” (required to work, and able to work remotely, in other situations such as Pandemic Disease closures). |
Mandatory + Key |
Designated as “mandatory” (must be physically present under REG 04.20.8: Pandemic Disease), but “key” (required to work, and able to work remotely, in other situations like Adverse Weather closures). |
