HR System: Basics for Processing Employee Actions

Description: This is an introductory class designed to acquaint participants with the HR Start Employment Process. All of the different types of NC State University employment classifications are hired through the Start Employment Process. College divisions across campus have identified HR personnel responsible for initiating and approving temporary employment transactions. There will also be key HR personnel responsible for initiating full-time employment transactions and making updates directly in the HR System. Upon completion of the training, participants should have a basic understanding of the user roles and responsibilities associated with processing hire transactions in the HR system. Additionally, they should be able to identify if further training classes should be attended.

Objectives:

  • Define the following roles and responsibilities of the following, Start Employment Initiator
  • Start Employment Approver
  • HR System Update User
  • VPAF Processing for student workers and temporary employment
