When can Teams Add Participants to their Roster?
Teams must add the minimum number of participants to their roster during the team-scheduling period (on-line). This deadline will generally be the Wednesday prior to the sport league starting.

Roster additions are accepted Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 1:00pm

How do I Register?
To register a team (and guarantee your team a place in the league) a team representative must provide a team name and the manager’s contact information during the registration period identified for the sport. Sports registration forms must be submitted via the Campus Recreation website. For individual/dual sports, this is all that needs to be done to register. For team sports, additional steps must be taken to select a day and time of play. This information is available at the information meetings scheduled for each sport.

How do I Join a Team?
Don’t have a partner or enough players to form a team? Submit a “free agent” form on our website and the Campus Recreation staff will make your name available to other participants.

What about Individual/Dual & Special Events?
Individual/dual sports are scheduled as single-elimination tournaments. Special events are scheduled using various formats, including single- and double-elimination tournament which may be preceded by a round-robin session. Activities range from table tennis to quickball! Information on these activities are available online. Our website makes it easy to submit entry forms quickly!

How do I Schedule?
All team sport scheduling is done via the “On-Line Scheduling Module.” Each team that registers for a specific team sport prior to the registration deadline will be assigned a registration code at the informational meeting for that specific sport. Teams that don't have a representative attend the informational meeting will receive their registration codes through email between 5:00 and 7:00pm the evening following the meeting. Teams not registering by the deadline must attend the informational meeting to be considered for a spot in the league, provided that time and facility constraints allow for additional teams.

How do I Reschedule a game?
No rescheduling can be accomplished EXCEPT through the Campus Recreation office. A valid reason must be presented for consideration when requesting the rescheduling of a contest. All rescheduling should be done one week in advance. All rescheduling MUST be confirmed 24 hours in advance by both teams/individuals.

These procedures and guidelines must be followed in order to officially reschedule any contest:

1. The team/individual desiring to reschedule a contest must call the Campus Recreation office and speak with a member of the Intramural Sports administrative staff concerning the availability of alternate times for games. This is subject to the availability of facilities and personnel.

2. The team/individual desiring the change must then contact the opponent, request a change, and identify alternate times for playing the contest. Phone numbers for team managers are available on the web page and in the Campus Recreation office. The opponent is not obligated to change the playing date or time.

3. If a change is agreed upon, both teams/individuals must contact the Intramural Sports administrative staff to confirm the change. If both teams/individuals do not confirm the change, the contest must be played on the scheduled day and time. Note: Teams unable to reschedule may default to avoid forfeit charges.

What are Defaults?
As a courtesy to their opponents and to avoid being charged with a forfeit, teams may request a default for games that they will be unable to attend. All defaults must be made known to the Campus Recreation office by 1:00 p.m. the day of the contest. Exception: For games scheduled on Saturday or Sunday notification must be made by 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

What are Forfeits?
Each team sport has its own rules regarding the forfeiture of games. You will always be safe if you assume game time is forfeit time, but you should consult the sport-specific rules for additional information. A charge is associated with forfeiture; in most cases, this charge is $25, and is the responsibility of the team captain. Failure to pay the forfeit charge by no later than your team's next scheduled game (or sooner, if a sooner deadline is provided to you) will result in your team being dropped from the league, and the team captain's student account being charged the amount of the forfeit. Any team forfeitting twice in the same sport will be dropped from the league.

In addition to the above, in most cases a team will forfeit any contest in which it used an ineligible player. The Assistant Director or Coordinator of Intramural Sports will determine in what manner opposing teams will be benefited by forfeits of this nature.

What are Forfeits Charges and Where do I Pay?
An objective of the Department of Campus Recreation is to reduce the number of forfeitures in order to enhance the participants overall recreational experience. Forfeit charges are assessed for team sports, minor sports (individual/dual contests), and special events in the case of teams failing to appear for a scheduled or re-scheduled game. Teams defaulting matches will not be charged.
Forfeit Charge Structure:

Team Sports

$25.00

Minor Sports

$5.00 (Individual)

$10.00 (Dual)

Special Events

up to $15.00*

*This information will be noted on the
Activity Information Sheet prior to the activity.

Payment Guidelines:
1. Forfeit charges must be paid in the Campus Recreation office within four business days or prior to the next sport entry date, whichever come first. Failure to pay will result in the team being dropped from the scheduled competition.
2. All charges not paid by the conclusion of the activity will be billed to the team manager’s university account. Exception: Any unpaid charges by a faculty/staff member may result in all Carmichael Gymnasium privileges being suspended until paid.
3. Any individual/manager that has unpaid forfeit charges will be unable to register a new team in a different activity and will be deemed an ineligible participant for any new activity.

When and Where are Informational Meetings held?
All informational meetings are generally held on Wednesday evenings in Carmichael Gym Room 104. Specific meeting times and dates can be found on the Program Schedule page, and on sport-specific registration pages..

What is the Intramural Sports All-Campus Policy?
A valid All-Campus Card is required to gain access to the Carmichael Gymnasium Complex. Therefore all participants will be required to present a valid All-Campus Card prior to participation in all Intramural Sports activities.

The Department of Campus Recreation wants to provide the best services to our participants. If ineligible people participate in the program they are putting the legitimate participants and university at risk. In addition, if ineligible participants are allowed to participate they may be taking away an opportunity for an eligible participant.

What about Inclement Weather?
The Campus Recreation staff makes decisions concerning the postponement or cancellation of games due to inclement weather at 3:00 p.m. Participants should call 513.0071 after 3:00 p.m. for this information; teams should not assume that games will be cancelled simply because of rain. Normally, games will be rescheduled or cancelled within 24 hours. Teams should come to the Campus Recreation office or check the website to confirm their schedule after all inclement weather situations.

What about Cancelled Games?
Games that are cancelled due to inclement weather will not keep a team from qualifying for the playoffs. Teams are responsible for checking their schedules to determine if the games have been or will be rescheduled. If the games are not rescheduled and the team is mathematically eligible for the playoffs they will be scheduled for play.

Who is Eligible for the Playoffs?
Teams with at no more than two losses (one loss in sports with only two regular-season games) and a team sportsmanship rating of 2.5 will advance to the playoffs.

What is the Ranking System and does it Determine Playoff Seeding?
The ranking system is automatically generating by the on-line software that is used by Intramural Sports. This ranking is for pure fun or bragging rights and has no effect on what teams make the playoffs or where teams are seeded in the playoffs. The rankings are based on the teams winning percentage, total offense, total defense, sportsmanship and opponents winning percentage.
