The Textile Protection and Comfort Center (T-PACC) is the only academic center in the country that incorporates in one location the ability to research, test and evaluate the comfort and protective performance of textiles. Located in the top-ranked College of Textiles, T-PACC has helped develop protective gear for firefighters and other first responders.

The Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) operates under the auspices of the university's College of Engineering to provide educational and training opportunities to develop skilled professionals for the biomanufacturing industry. BTEC’s 82,500-square-foot facility, the largest of its kind in the world, features a simulated pilot plant capable of producing biopharmaceutical products in a sterile environment.

The Nonwovens Institute is a cooperative research venture involving the College of Textiles and more than 60 member companies who collaborate to underwrite research in the field of nonwoven fabrics, which are used in products such as baby wipes, surgical gowns and air filters. Much of this research is carried out at the institute's state-of-the-art research facility, the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center on NC State’s Centennial Campus.

The Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization concentration of the Jenkins MBA program at the Poole College of Management pairs student teams with real-world start-up businesses dealing with the challenges of growth and competition. MBA students in this concentration also collaborate with graduate students from other disciplines, including scientists, engineers and designers.

The Center for Innovation Management Studies (CIMS), an initiative of the Poole College of Management, is a union of academia and industry dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment among scholars, researchers and business executives. CIMS conducts and publishes research, provides workshops, and offers tools and assessments that help businesses adopt new technology to gain a competitive advantage and grow their bottom line.
