Installation of Chancellor James L. Oblinger set for April 20
The installation of Dr. James L. Oblinger as North Carolina State University’s 13th chancellor is planned for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Reynolds Coliseum.
The installation ceremony, with the
theme of "Innovation in Action: Voices of NC State,"
will cap more than a week of celebrations, symposia and activities
to honor the new chancellor. Included in the festivities will
be:
- Symposia and events sponsored by individual colleges at NC State on various dates during April
- April 4 -- A reception for NC State staff, sponsored by the Staff Senate, from 3 to 4 p.m. in Room 3118 Talley Student Center.
- April 8 --
Book presentation, 10-11 a.m., Clark Conference Room. Faculty and staff are invited to attend the presentation of a book, written by numerous university faculty, to the Chancellor.
- April 12 -- An ice cream reception for students from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on the Brickyard.
- April 13 -- Faculty, staff and students are invited to the College of Design exhibit, “Voices of Innovation,” from 2-4 p.m. at Brooks Hall Rotunda.
- April 18 -- The campus and community are invited to attend the Norman Borlaug visit and lecture, Bridging the Divide Between the Environment, Agriculture and Forestry, from 7-9 p.m. at the McKimmon Center.
- April 18 -- Faculty staff, students and the community are invited to International Exposition: Research Entertainment and Culture, 1-4 p.m., Talley Student Center.
- April 19 -- The campus and community are invited to attend the Partners III Open House in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Centennial Campus from 1:15-2:15 p.m. in the Partners III Building. Dessert will be served.
- April 20 -- An open reception for all faculty, staff and students on the Talley Courtyard following the installation ceremony.
