Setting up Another Firewall for Symantec AntiVirus

1. See Do I Have an Active Firewall? and make sure that you have a firewall and that it is actually working.
   
   
2. Determine the Symantec version you are using and then choose one of the following links to find out which ports you will need to open on your firewall.
   • Firewall Ports Required by Symantec AntiVirus 8 and 9
   • Firewall Ports Required by Symantec AntiVirus 10
     
     
3. Open the required ports manually. See your firewall's documentation for instructions on how to do this. The NC State Help Desk cannot assist you with this process.
