Checking Symantec AntiVirus Activity

Here's how to tell whether your Symantec AntiVirus is actually running.

1. Double click the yellow Symantec AntiVirus shield icon in the system tray.
   
   
2. In the window that opens, select View from the menu bar.
   
   
3. Select Auto-Protect Scan Statistics.
   
   
   
4. On the right-hand side of the window, in the Status box, look at the field to the right of the word "Started." If a date and time are present, the Symantec AntiVirus service is running; otherwise, it isn't.
