CAUTION: The steps in this process will leave you without antivirus protection. Make sure that you are not connected to the Internet while you perform the following procedure.
These are instructions for uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus from your computer.
- Close any open applications before you continue.
- Click on the Start button (usually in the lower left corner of your screen).
- Select Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, click on Uninstall a program.

If your Control Panel is set to "Classic View," double click on the Programs and Features icon.

- Scroll down and highlight Norton AntiVirus or Symantec AntiVirus.
- In the menu bar just above the list of programs, click on Uninstall.

You will be asked to confirm that you wish to uninstall Symantec AntiVirus. Click Yes.

- You will be asked to give permission to uninstall the application. Click Continue.

In some cases, this window may say that an "unidentified program wants to access your computer."
In this case, choose Allow.

- When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove this program, select Yes.
- You may be prompted to decide if you want to restart your computer now. Choose No, since you will be uninstalling another program first.
- Scroll to LiveUpdate and highlight it.
- In the menu bar just above the list of programs, click on Uninstall/Change.

- You will be asked to give permission to uninstall the application. Click Continue.
- Confirm that you want to remove the program by selecting Yes.
- When the program has been uninstalled, you will receive a confirmation message. Select OK.
- Restart your computer.
