June 1, 2009 update

Effective at 5:00 pm on 6/1/09, we are no longer offering Oracle calendar accounts to faculty, staff or students.

On Friday evening, June 5, 2009, we will begin the migration to WolfWise, NC State's implementation of Novell's GroupWise email and calendaring product. Please note that if you are a current user and you did not fill out the migration form or your department did it for you, the default action will be:

OIT:

  • Will not set up a WolfWise account for you.
  • Will not migrate your Oracle calendar data.
  • Will not migrate your Unity email to WolfWise at this time.
  • Will shut down the Oracle Calendar server on June 26, 2009.

For more information on WolfWise, please visit the WolfWise web site.

February 2009 update

The current plan is to begin migrating our Oracle customers to WolfWise (NC State's implementation of GroupWise) in mid-April 2009. ALL Oracle customers will receive a email with detailed instructions approximately 3 weeks out from the migration date of mid-April.

Please note that if you no longer use Oracle calendar, you can go ahead and request that your account be deleted. Please make sure you have any back up copies or have exported your calendar data should you need to retain it for any reason. Send your request to it_brickyard@remedy.ncsu.edu

For information on the migration and WolfWise in general, please see the WolfWise web site.

NC State University chooses GroupWise as its calendar solution for campus

In December 2007, NC State University made the decision to move to GroupWise for a central calendar service. Information about this decision and the subsequent migration to GroupWise can be found on the OITCAL web page.

The migration to GroupWise will not begin for the general campus until summer / fall 2008. OIT will continue to create accounts and support the Oracle calendar system until such time that we are ready to begin training and migrating calendar data over to GroupWise. Existing Oracle calendar users will be notified in a timely manner as the migration gets closer and OIT will work to ensure a smooth transition to the GroupWise system. Please stay informed of calendar news by visiting the OITCAL page and/or subscribing to our brickyard_news mailing list.

Users needing a calendar immediately should request an Oracle calendar account by sending email to help@ncsu.edu; training, documentation, password resets, etc are all still valid and available from this Brickyard website.

Users new to Oracle should read our Getting Started with Oracle page.
