Converting Your Worksheet to Web Format
You can allow others to easily view your Excel 97 worksheet via the Internet by
converting the worksheet to an HTML object or file. Excel 97 has an HTML converter
wizard to help you with this process. Using the wizard, you can insert your table
into an existing HTML document, or you can create a new HTML page with your document.
- Select File => Save as HTML ... from the menu bar. The "Internet
Assistant" dialog box will appear.

- In the "Ranges and Charts to Convert" box, select the chart you wish to convert, or
identify a range of cells that you wish to display. Click "Next".
- Choose whether to create an new HTML document to display your data, or to insert the
worksheet into an existing HTML document. Click "Next".
- The next screen will allow you to specify headers and footers and to frame the document
with horizontal rules. Select the items you wish to include, and click "Next".
- Unless you have special requirements, select the default code to use for your HTML
document (US/Western European). Save the result as an HTML file and specify the correct
path for the document's location on your local drive. Click "Finish".
- View the converted document on your local machine before uploading it to your active web
directory. To view the document, locate it using Windows Explorer file manager and double
click on it. Your default browser will start up and show the document.
