Getting Connected to Campus Computing

CAUTION: Before you connect to the campus network from your personal computer you are required to have an NC State-approved antivirus program with up-to-date virus definitions installed. See the Download Free Antivirus Now page for details.

You can access university computing resources from either on or off campus. Here are links to details about the various ways that you can connect:

  • A campus residence hall or Greek Court using ResNet.
  • E. S. King Village (family housing). Cable modem Internet access is included with rent.
  • University Towers
  • Wireless access points on campus
  • An off-campus location over the Internet
• Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) (requires a high-speed Internet connection)
• Campus learning spaces:
  • Unity computing labs offer a variety of workstations and software packages. They are open to anyone with an active Unity account.
  • Some college- and department-based labs are available to students in other disciplines.
  • Kiosks are for brief use, such as checking your email or academic information.
  • Classroom Technology (ClassTech) supports classroom connection to the campus network.
  • FlySpace offers technology-enabled meeting spaces for small groups.
  • D.H. Hill Library Learning Commons and Floor Plan (PDF)
• Computer User Groups are a good source of computing-related information
• NC State Help Desk, staffed during normal business hours, can help you solve connection problems.
