Email Processes at NC State

NC State emails important and timely information to students and University employees (e.g., information about classes, student accounts, eBILLs, employment, benefits), so it is vital that the University have a correct email address for you at all times. You are responsible for keeping your address up-to-date. This page provides information about the University's email processes.

Multiple Email Addresses

NC State retains up to three email addresses (Unity, Business, and Other) for each Individual in the campus community, as shown in the table below. If you need to forward your Unity mail to another address, go to https://sysnews.ncsu.edu/tools-bin/usmdb-forwards and use the online tool.

Your Preferred Email Address

Depending on your status, the University designates one of these three email addresses as the Preferred one. It will be the only address the University will use for official email communication with you. The following table indicates the Preferred address for these individuals:

  • A student only
  • Both a student and an employee
