IMAP Overview

IMAP is the default protocol that NC State uses for email accounts. Its most notable feature is Webmail, which allows you to access your mail, stored on the IMAP server at NC State, from any up-to-date browser on any lab machine or personal computer with Internet access, much like Hotmail or Yahoo mail. You can log in to Webmail at http://webmail.ncsu.edu. For more information see the Webmail Tutorial.

Email Programs Other Than Webmail
If you use Webmail, you won't need to set up another email program, but if you decide to do so, make sure that it will work with IMAP.

Email Space Allocation
The space available for your email messages is part of the file storage space(disk quota) allotted to you as a Unity account holder. You can buy additional email storage space on a fiscal year basis by submitting the online form at https://sysnews.ncsu.edu/tools-bin/usmdb-purchase.
