Types of Files
A file is a block of information stored under a single name. For example,
all the text of a term paper could be stored under the name "final_paper." There
are two types of files:
- Program files contain instructions used by the Unix operating system to
perform certain tasks (such as word processing or mailing messages),
- Data files contain information created by you.
