Software@NC State

The purpose of this site is to provide a central location of up-to-date information for the entire campus community about software licensing and acquisition.

By making this information available, faculty, staff and students can take advantage of the many licensing agreements, reducing the overall cost of software licensing for the university.

2.5.2010 NC State is now officially part of the Apple iPhone Developer Program. With this program, we can develop, test and distribute applications for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch from within NC State’s App Store. A committee to manage NC State’s mobile presence is currently being formed. In the meantime, OIT’s Outreach Technology will be managing the review of applications and the management of the NC State iPhone Developer Program.
1.19.2010 Rosetta Stone licenses are part of North Carolina State University. These licenses are available to all faculty, staff and students affiliated with North Carolina State University and are accessible from any internet connection that meets the system and hardware requirements . **NOTE: We currently have issued all 100 licenses and there is now a waiting list. We are working on possibly getting more licenses.***
1.15.2010 Matlab 2009b for faculty and staff is now available for download. It is available for Linux 32&64-bit, Windows 32&64-bit and Macintosh operating systems.
1.14.2010 SPSS/PASW 18 is now available for download.  PASW is the new name for SPSS and it is now available for both the Windows and Macintosh platforms.
1.07.2010 All SAS Licenses expired on December 31st. There is a 90 grace period so you should be able to continue to use the product normally. We are working with SAS to get the new licenses and hope to have them up on our site by the end of the month. We are still working on a distribution method for SAS 9.2.
10.23.2009 NCSU Bookstores have the Windows 7 Pro upgrade available. The upgrade will cost $39.99 and be available in both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This upgrade is for students or faculty & staff use on their home computers. There will be no Home Use Program for Windows 7 offered by Software Licensing Management.
9.01.2009 Macintosh OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is here. If you are a member of the AMP (Apple Maintenance Program), the download is now available. If you are unable to access the download site and are a member of the AMP, please send an email to Software Licensing Management.

Windows 7 Available to Software Assurance Customers

Windows 7 Enterprise was released today to Software Assurance customers. If you participate in NC State's Windows Campus Agreement or if you have purchased Windows and have current Software Assurance, you are entitled to this upgrade.  To learn more, please visit the Windows 7 page.

ESRI License Renewed

The ESRI license has been renewed for those who access the ESRI license server.  The license is valid until July 31, 2010.

ESRI Keyless License Files

Faculty and staff may now request ESRI keyless license files that allow the user to run concurrent versions of ArcGIS with being connected to the internet and without having to purchase a USB hardware key.  To learn more about this new service offered by OIT, please visit the ESRI Keyless License Files page.

Microsoft Office Home Use Program

Faculty and Staff can now purchase Office for their home computer through the Microsoft's Home Use Program (HUP ).
