For the second cycle of compact planning at NC State, university units were asked to submit Initiatives in the following five categories:

This cycle focused on initiatives to be pursued 2004-05 and 2005-06 and 2006-07.


Step 1:Collect Ideas from units and senior staff

Step 2:Make preliminary list of highest priority/most likely to succeed initiatives

Step 3:Identify proposal team leads and begin to draft initiatives

Step 4: Prepare summary/overview for Sam to present at Provost's meeting, November 4, 2002.

Step 5: Continue developing initiative plans/proposals. Consolidate, rename, reorganize initiatives as appropriate for efficiency and effective communication to Provost and campus.

Step 6: Prepare "Round One" of Compact Plan Initiatives: January, 2003 draft; July '03 update for new Provost .

Step 6.5 Revise Round One Initiatives for presentation to Provost when process resumes in fall '03:

Revised Round One document, presented August 18, 2003. Feedback received included the statement that "The percentage limit on requests for new funds has been lowered to 2% for all vice provosts and deans."

Step 7: Round Two - presented to Provost Oblinger, January 09, 2004.

Spring 2005:
Requested by Interim Provost Nielsen: Review/Update of ITD Compact Plan negotiated in 2003-04.
