University Goal: Advancing Academic Mission-Commodity IT Services:

6. Build Learning Technology Services into Effective Campus Service Organization

Note: In 1999, ITD was charged with restructuring the Learning Technology Service (LTS) and building it into an effective campus-wide service organization. Dr. Joanne Dehoney was named new director of the LTS, and she has ably led the LTS, hiring additional staff and focusing the development of the LTS in the direction of improving the visibility and productivity of the organization The interdisciplinary staff now includes librarians, graphic designers, and programmer analysts. The LTS mission encompasses a range of activities including:

· strategic planning and delivery of campus-wide instructional technology support;

· assessment of existing and emerging technologies that support instruction;

· synthesis and diffusion of policy and research activities converging on the field of instructional technology in higher education.

The Learning Technology Service now has its own Compact Plan, presented in conjunction with the university's new Distance Education and Learning Technology Application (DELTA) division. Please refer to those Compact Plans for further reports on

· The Production Services Pilot Project: technology support activities.
