Computing Essentials Web Site Wins SIGUCCS 2005 CommAward!

Congratulations to the ITD's Computing Services "Computing Essentials @ NC State" web site development team! The Computing Essentials site (http://www.ncsu.edu/itd/essentials/) has received the "Overall Winner" Communications Award for computing services web sites from the international Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (ACM SIGUCCS).

The entry team members were Rob Gierka, ITD Publications Manager; Luis Chacon, Web Applications Programmer; Mark McLawhorn, Graphic Designer; Don Schmidt, Web Developer/Trainer; and Charles Walker, Web Developer/Technical Writer, "With the contributions and support of a host of other staff of the NC State University Information Technology Division (ITD)" (http://www.siguccs.org/Conference/Fall2005/awardwinners.shtml)

"ITD understands how important it is to provide timely technical information to the university's students. faculty and staff to enable them to do their work," says Bill Padgett, Director of Computing Services. "Computing Essentials has organized our information very effectively."

ACM SIGUCCS focuses on issues surrounding the support, delivery and management of information technology services in higher education. Each year the SIGUCCS CommAwards peer-juried competition provides an international forum for recognizing outstanding web sites and publications developed at college and university computing centers.
