We often go all over the world for our speakers and forget the best right in our midst. Mr. Lane has received more teaching awards than the walls of one office can hold; and many of you in the Triangle area now see him teaching on educational TV; but most importantly he has converted thousands to the joy and excitement of horticulture through his own personal passion. He's rarely on the public lecture circuit (a pity) - this is a real opportunity for an incomparable evening of joy, excitement, and learning - don't miss it!

Mr. Hinkley is the Renaissance Man of American Horticulture today - teacher, lecturer, nurseryman, explorer, landscape designer, photographer, writer, and philosopher (and incredible cook) - Martha Stewart gets more publicity - but he accomplishes more without the staff of thousands. We have people tell us they can't get out at night or maneuver the busy campus roads - so we've provided an easy and leisurely way to attend a Friends lecture.

Memberships required to participate and they will be sold on site the day of the distribution - come at 8:00 AM to purchase. Bring boxes and bags to efficiently stash and haul your booty.

See later calendar

Special Notice: In the past we have provided information here on the lecture tour schedule of J. C. so our distant arboretum members might possibly attend if he appears in their neighborhood. Unfortunately, there will be no out-of-state lectures given in 1996 for a year of local emphasis on other activities (like leading a "life" perhaps!). See you on the road again (more rarely) in 1997!
