Macro Photography Workshop

by Dick Cicone, Capital City Camera Club, and Christopher Todd Glenn, Programs and Education Coordinator
"Macro Photography—Level 1"
Dick Cicone, Capital City Camera Club
Saturday, May 19, 2012 – 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
Learn the basics of macro photography through classroom presentation, field experience, and photograph critique. Technically, macro photography is when you produce an image where your subject is captured on your image sensor at life size, or larger. In the case of most cameras and photography, macro is not achieved and in fact, close-up photography would be a better description. However, most manufacturers call their close-up mode macro-mode.
Instruction will address basic camera settings for best photo quality; exposure considerations; lighting; macro equipment options; and techniques for taking close-up images of small plants, parts, and insects.
For more information, please visit the JCRA's Web site or contact Chris Glenn at (919) 513-7005 or chris_glenn@ncsu.edu. To register, please call (919) 513-7005. To register, please call (919) 513-7005 or use the downloadable registration form.

"Garden Storytime"
Friday,
June 1, 15, and 29, 2012 – 10:30 AM
May's inaugural "Garden Storytime" reading is full, but openings remain in our June programs. We meet at the Bobby G. Wilder Visitor's Center and head out into the gardens together with our blankets for garden stories, songs, movement, and a craft to take home.

Spend your morning with the Suzanne, the Butterfly Lady! Children will delight in learning about the amazing butterfly life cycle. Painted lady butterfly caterpillar rearing kits and host plants will be available for purchase from the Butterfly Lady.
To register for these children's programs, please contact Elizabeth Overcash, children's program coordinator, at elizabeth_overcash@ncsu.edu or (919) 513-7007. Space is limited.
