Gala in the Garden 2002
The 2002 Gala in the Garden was one of the most successful JCRA events ever, and one of the highlights was when Bobby Brown, President of the A.E. Finley Foundation, made the announcement of their $100,000.00 pledge to the Marian Nottingham Finely and Marian Nottingham Rice Rose Garden Endowment.
The Finley-Nottingham Rose Garden at the JCRA is in memory of Marian Nottingham Finley, wife of Mr. Albert Earle Finley. She was a pillar of the Raleigh community and a great lover of roses. She passed away in 1996 at the age of one hundred and one years old. This gift is also in memory of Marian Nottingham Rice, the Finley's niece, who died of cancer in 1996.
The JC Raulston Arboretum and all of our community owes so much to the A.E. Finley Foundation for their constant support and leadership. Thank you Bobby Brown, Earle Finley, Andy Goodwin, Alton Howard, Charlie Nottingham, and Ben Nottingham for being very good "friends" of the Arboretum!
