project overview
Connecting Kids with Nature is a project aimed at establishing school based Junior Naturalists clubs, teaching kids how to create natural habitats around their school campuses, and connecting students to scientists and educators working at institutions such as museums and universities.

Members of the Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School (M2M3) Junior Naturalist club have collaborated with scientists and educators from the NC Museum of Natural Sciences’ Prairie Ridge Ecostation for Wildlife and Learning to conduct research on chimney swifts, Monarch butterflies, and to design and build study ponds and a butterfly garden on our urban campus. This website documents the last two years of our club’s progress in developing natural habitats and lesson plans that can be used in these newly created spaces. We hope it will help you do the same at your school.
