Jodi Songer Riedel (919-562-3600) is a high school Agricultural Education teacher at Wakefield High School in North Raleigh. Jodi has taught and established the Agriculture program at Wakefield for the past five years. There, Jodi manages a greenhouse, gardens, the FFA club, and continuously strives to improve the Wakefield community. Jodi is a native of Hastings, Michigan where she grew up on an exotic animal farm with her mom, dad, younger sister and their multitude of animals. She earned her B.S. in Horticulture from Michigan State University and her M.S. in Agricultural and Extension Education from North Carolina State University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree at NCSU with a focus on urban students and agricultural literacy. Jodi has a husband, who also teaches with her, and two dogs.

Mentor: Dr. Susan Moore

Susan Moore (919-515-3184) is an Extension Assistant Professor and Director of the Forestry & Environmental Outreach Program at NC State University. She has a BS from Rochester Institute of Technology, an MBA from Duke University and a PhD in forestry from NC State. Her outreach activities include continuing education for natural resource professionals, landowner education, international extension and engagement with outside stakeholders interested in sustainable natural resource management and stewardship. Susan’s research interests include sustainable forest management and forest certification, natural stand management, conservation-based development and family forest management. Susan loves to travel and has visited many countries to explore forestry and natural resource management. She lives in Raleigh with her husband Jerry, their two dogs (Ziggy and Pete), and cat (Jeter).
