2006 Ethics and Lobbying Act - An overview of 2006 Ethics and Lobbying Act as presented at the University Council meeting October 24, 2006.

Covered Persons - The State Ethics Commission provides a listing of the names and positions of all persons and boards subject to Chapter 138A of the State Government Ethics Act. Pursuant to N.C.G.S. §138A-3(10) a "covered person" is a legislator, public servant, or judicial officer.

Mandatory Training - Under the new ethics and lobbying law mandatory training is required for chancellors, vice chancellors and their direct reports. Every public servant must participate in an ethics training presentation approved by the Commission within six months of the appointment or employment and must attend refresher ethics education presentations at least every two years thereafter in a manner that the Ethics Commission deems appropriate.
