1. How does it make you feel to be on the 1996 Australian Olympic team?
I was thrilled. I was on the border until the last run, then I qualified.
2. When you were a kid did you expect to be here today? Did you have goals to participate in the Olympics, or have a career in sports?
It wasn't until this year that I realized I had a chance to be in the Olympics.
3. How old were you when you started competing in track and field events. How did you get started?
My dad coached me when I was young, and when I participated in sports similar to junior team sports.
I took a trip to Utah, America when I was 14 to compete in track events.
4. Does it seem confusing or unfair that the Olympics are done in the northern hemisphere's time so that you compete during your winter in the summer Olympics this year? and do you know if, when the Sydney 2000 Olympics come it will be held during your summer or ours?
I have to reach my peak twice a year, March and the end of July.
It's difficult, especially for long events, to adjust to the climate.
It takes a while to adjust to the climate, and it's tiring to travel on a plane. It affects my running.
On the Sydney 2000 issue, I'm not sure, but they will probably be in August, which is the beginning of spring in Australia, but it's not official.
5. How long have you been training in the US?
3 days, so far in Raleigh, and I will be training in Atlanta for 3-4 days prior to the Olympics.
6. After the Olympics are over, are you planning on doing any sight-seeing or staying in America for a while before going home?
I'd like to, but I probably won't be able to stay for long, because I have to get back to work, and may be going to Europe for more competitions depending on how I do in the Olympics.
7. Do you have access to e-mail at home, and if so would you be willing to answer questions sent to you form kids all over the world and have them posted on the internet?
Yes, I'll try, but I'm not sure if I can get the connection internationally, because I pay more for doing it internationally than locally.
8. What are other competitions you have been competing in?
I got 4th in World Cup in 1994 in Britain.
I ran cross-country in South Africa.
I ran in Oslo, Norway, and beat the Australian record by six seconds. It was my personal best.
