On December 8, 1999 the Ligon Sci-Blast science reporters were priveliged to visit North Carolina State University Cellular and Molecular Imaging Facility. While there we met three very interesting scientists and learned how they are using imaging techniques to study cells and molecules. Dr. Nina Stromgren Allen, Professor of Botany, shared a presentation of her most recent research findings on the struture of the nucleus that she had prepared to present at an international conference that week. We were all inspired by the experience. We felt as if we had explored brave new worlds. Sci-Blast students remarked, "All that knowledge about the parts of the cell that we are learning in science suddenly came alive."
