Anne Akers, a public school teacher for 20 years, has a master’s degree in history from VA Tech and an MLS from East Carolina University. Currently, she is assistant director of the Learning Technology Resource Center (LTRC) and the coordinator of the library media center in the College of Education at NC State University where she is working towards her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on technology.

Tom Warren has taught English at the high school level, TA'ed for elementary ESL, and currently subs in WCPS as a middle grades or high school Language Arts/English teacher while not working in the LRL. A full-time second-year graduate student in the M.S. Ed. Middle Grades Language Arts program, Tom does webdesign for Meridian, and looks forward to defending his thesis and graduating Summer 2006.

Brett Zyromski is a doctoral student in Counselor Education at NC State University. He received his BA in Elementary Education in 1998 from Linfield College in Oregon. He has since taught English as a Second Language in Spain, worked for a welfare program in Ireland, worked as a youth pastor for three years, and worked at R.N. Harris Elementary School in Durham as the At-Risk Counselor for two years. Brett received his Th.M. from Houston Graduate School of Theology, a seminary in High Point, NC. He transferred there after completing 30 credits of his Masters of School Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research interests include using technology to enhance counseling programs.

Lynnae Flynn
is a doctoral student in science education at NC State University.
She received her BS in science education in 1995 from The University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She taught biology and physical
science for four years at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, NC,
before going back to graduate school in 1999. She received her MS
in science education from NCSU in 2001. Her research interests include
technology use and the “digital division” between students
of differing backgrounds.

Millie Maxwell is a licensed professional counselor and currently works as a counselor and psychology instructor at Saint Mary's School in Raleigh, NC. She holds a B.A. in English from Wake Forest University, an M.A. in English, and an M.Ed in counselor education from NCSU, where she is a full-time doctoral student. She is an avid tennis player, snow skier, and recreational runner.

Beth
Snoke Harris (former Meridian editor)
is a masters student in instructional technology. She earned a BS
in physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Beth has taught high school physics and currently works as web master
and coordinator with The
Science House. Her interests include technology integration
in science and mathematics education.

Bethany V. Smith
is a masters student in instructional technology. She earned
a BS in technology education from NC State University. Bethany has
taught in public school as well as in the corporate arena. She currently
works on the VISE project for The Friday Institute as a teaching
technician and runs the Usability Lab. Her interests include technology
integration across curricular areas.

Michele Thomas has three years of experience as an elementary teacher. Michele has
taught in Durham County Public Schools and Prince Georges' County Public
Schools in Maryland. She is currently working with Dr. Grant Holley in the
Alternative Licensure Department. She is in her second year in M.Ed. Reading
Education program. Michele received her BA in elementary education from North
Carolina Central University in May 2002.

Courtney
H. Thornton
served as the Educational Program Coordinator at the Kenan
Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science. She holds
a B.A. in chemistry and a B.S. in science education from NC State
University. She brings work experience from the public and private
sectors that includes serving as a high school chemistry teacher
and as a technician in an industrial adhesives laboratory. Courtney
completed an M.Ed. in higher education at NC State University and
is now pursuing her doctorate.

Timmerman
is a doctoral student in education research at NC State University.
She received her B.A., C.A.S., and M.L.S. from East Carolina University.
Annemarie has been a school library media specialist and a technology
director in Caswell County Schools, NC. Currently, she works for
the NC Department of Public Instruction as a Technology Consultant.

Shannon
White (former
Meridian editor) is
a doctoral candidate in curriculum and instruction at NC State University.
She received a masters degree from NCSU in curriulum and instruction
with a focus in social studies education in 2001. Her research interests
include social studies education and instructional technology, school
and community partnerships using Geographic Information Systems
(GIS), and interdisciplinary uses of GIS in schools. Her dissertation
research is focused on student and educator perceptions of GIS and
instructional technology. She will graduate in Summer 2005.
