Before You Submit Your Work....
-
Although we try to publish any writing or art that supports or
enhances learning, we must protect the MidLink Magazine family of
teachers and students. Every school or district is constrained by different
policies, rules, and guidelines. Since we have no way of knowing the content
or scope of these policies, we respectfully request the following:
- Get a copy of your school's Internet
Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and follow your school district guidelines.
Students and parents should sign an AUP before students use the
Internet. If your district does not have a policy, please see a sample Acceptable
Use Policy, print it out, and have students and parents sign it.
Keep these signed forms on file for future reference.
- Obtain parental permission before
publishing any student's work on the World Wide Web. Use this convenient
Permission Template.
- Do not publish student pictures along
with the student's full name. We recommend identifying student
authors/artists by first names only.
- Do not include addresses or phone numbers
in published work.
- Citations and permissions
- Teach students the proper method of
citing any images, sounds or text they might use. All
published work should include proper citations and credits for
anything that is not original. See How
to Cite Your Sources for up-to-date guidelines.
- Make sure students write for
permission to use anything that is not public domain. Use these Handy
Templates. (Fair use guidelines no longer apply when work leaves
your classroom!)
Our goal is to protect student authors
while allowing them to share their work. See How
to Submit for more detailed instructions about how to mail attachments
and images.
Your cooperation is sincerely appreciated,
Caroline McCullen
