The Cape Hatteras is the tallest lighthouse in the nation.  The beacon light can be seen from twenty miles away.  It has warned sailors for more than one-hundred years.  For its spiral stripes, it is named to "The Big Barber Pole".  The lighthouse was built with 1,250,000 bricks.  It is 208 ft. tall.  It weighs 6250 tons.  The lighthouse was built in 1870.
