Legends of the
Pacific Northwest
by

7th graders at Forest Ridge of the Sacred Heart in Seattle, Washington

Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, the land of Evergreen trees; rainy, mist shrouded days and the beautiful Puget Sound. The Pacific Northwest is also home to many storytellers, for what better way to spend a cold and stormy day than by telling long and fascinating stories!
Our 7th grade English class at Forest Ridge of the Sacred Heart in Seattle, Washington has been studying a very special kind of story, legends. We have learned that legends are stories loosely based on some factual event or person. Legends were usually passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth.

Some legends are very old and others are more recent. More recent legends that have a scary or mysterious element are usually called ‘urban legends’. We have tried spinning our own tales. Some are set long ago and others are more recent more ‘urban’.

Enjoy our legends! Are they true? They could be! That’s why legends are so much fun.
