Worldly Wishes
My wishes for the new millennium.
Tom Lawson
Not long from
now the year 2000 will be rolling around. This wonderfully round date might
bring many changes or the world or it might stay exactly the same. There
are a few wishes that I have for the new millennium. Most of these wishes
are sappy; things like world peace and no more illness, but they're what
I want. Maybe I really care...maybe I am just trying to sound nice. I can't
decide, why don't you?
My first wish
for the new day, month, year, decade and millennium of January 1, '00 is
for the computers not to crash including no power outages. You may be asking,
"Why would he want this more that a cure for illnesses?" Well, I'll tell
you why. The entire medical industry is based on automated machines. With
out this equipment there won't even be cough syrups. No more Nyquil, Sudephed
or Aspirin. Try living in a world like this for one week and people will
be whining and crying for aspirin, the last being stolen from pitch black
drug stores and hoarded away in peoples' homes. Some would be sold for
prices as high as if it were gold. Gold that can cure pains. We take our
medications for granted and we need power to make it. In short, we need
power to live.
My second wish
for the year 2000 is for all hatred to fade away like so much water on
the sun. There would be no more prejudice. People like Saddam would wither
away for they are more hate than flesh. There world be no more wars, and
no more murders. There would not even be a need for weapons. With With
no hate, there would be no crime. The police would be reduced to glorified
meter maids, giving out tickets for parking violations. I doubt a world
like this will ever come on Earth, but we can hope.
My final wish
for the new year is for there to be no more sickness of any kind in this
world. I wish for a cure for cancer, AIDS, and the common cold. There should
be no more flu, Asthma or Whooping Cough. Allergies should no longer exist.
These wishes combine to form what, in my opinion, everyone in the world
ultimately wish for and will only find in Heaven.
