Each year during the Christmas holidays, Living Crib takes place in our country. This event involves a large number of inhabitants and attracts many tourists.
The idea of a living crib was started some years ago after a reflection-- a discussion-- happened between the teachers of the nursery school and the kindergarten. The same quarrel occurred about this problem each year at Christmas. The teachers asked: "How should we represent the holiday in a meaningful way?"
Departing from the idea that the classical performances and dramatizations require a long and sometimes stressful preparation, above all for the children, the teachers sought a new way to live the holyday, thinking that it could improve the relationship among teachers, children, and parents.
So the idea was to recreate a "Living Crib"
open to the citizens, whose actors are the adults and also the
children with their spontaneity and creativeness.

For almost all month long of December the children, the parents and the teachers worked together on the idea, planning scenery, making costumes, searching for materials for the varied scenes and roles. On the day of the performance everyone was working hard to set up in the park "G. Cavina."
Many people are involved - around 200- who, in
addition to the classical figures of each crib, portray life in
the park to a variety of jobs and in order to recreate the daily
life of the past: from the blacksmith to the carpenter, from the
potter to the weavers, from the dye-works to the mill, to the
market...
- To recreate in a very realistic and living way, the event of the birth of Jesus in first person for the children.
- To launch a message of solidarity sensitizing the spectators towards the association "Ageop- Search" about the tumors and childish leukemias, with which the Center for the Infancy collaborates through varied performances.
- To recognize the need in each of us to experience
the "true" spirit of the Christmas season that makes
us remember this important historical event.
