"Did You Say, "INTEGRATE Technology???"
Yes we did...the easy way! Here are a few ideas for using the January/February issue of MidLink Magazine to integrate technology with standard curriculum in every subject. The best part is that you start with your own curriculum:
- LANGUAGE ARTS/SOCIAL STUDIES: Weave a computer writing activity into your course. Let students research a monument or landmark for Monu-MENTAL. They can illustrate their story, too! They might also want to submit a story to the Write Spot or a Peace Card to the Peace Card section. When you share your classroom activities in MidLink Magazine, your students will get the thrill of publishing that will inspire them to write even more. Publish the final product and get fan mail from MidLink readers!
- MATH and SCIENCE: What types of architectural features can you find in the monuments you researched for Monu-MENTAL? Which mathematical principals were used to construct these buildings? Which geometrical shapes are included in the monuments? Can you measure them? Which formulas would you use? Can you draw them to scale? Results could be on a web page, multimedia project, or a word processor.
Try one of the Secondary Roads projects: Chemistry students will enjoy the
3-D Compound Web Sites, and physics students will have fun playing the game and working the problems in Projectiles Interactive.Final Note: We welcome your suggestions for further activities and web sites related to our theme. Your idea may be just the inspiration we need to get started on another great project.
