.
Students at Ligon Middle School have progressed far beyond randomly "Surfing the 'Net." Although the Internet elective course is called "Surf the 'Net," the students quickly move beyond exploratory 'Net treks and are soon actively engaged in work that might be found in a typical English, social studies, or science classroom.
They research with a purpose, process the information , and produce electronic portfolios that have become resources for other students all over the world! The only difference is that they do their research electronically, process the information within their cooperative group, and construct HTML documents with their results.
