Goals of the Poetry Exchange
- to promote the appreciation of poetry in all languages
- to provide opportunities for students to experience another culture through the written expression of ideas, feelings and personal experiences
- to read poetry composed by students in other cultures and compare ideas and experiences
- to promote an idea exchange as well as cultural understanding among students from a variety of locations
- to stimulate "a poetic collaboration" and post results on the web
- to improve the knowledge of the English language, as well as the languages of participating schools
- a better understanding of one's own culture and how it compares to other cultures
- better knowledge of the one's native language and how it relates to other languages
- poems will be published in MidLink and on web sites of participating schools
- frequent E-mail exchanges for those choosing to participate
- cooperation among subject areas in each school and among all participating school
- increased dialogue and understanding among cultures, and unlimited possibilities for future projects
