October 13, 2008
Dr. Myles Brand, former President of Indiana University, will appear at the October Millennium Seminar to discuss college athletics. Since assuming the duties of President of the NCAA in 2002, Dr. Brand has exerted pressure on colleges and universities to reform policies and procedures with respect to collegiate athletes to encourage academic achievement. He has also decried the “arms race” among upper echelon schools as one of the chief challenges to the success of the NCAA. He will share his insight about the difficult tension between intercollegiate athletics and academic life, and his effort to rebalance these often-conflicting interests.
