The Marine Officer Instructor (MOI) was commissioned in December 1997 through the MECEP program at the University of Arizona.   After completing The Basic School and Military Police Officers Basic Course, he served from 1998-2000 at Camp Pendleton, CA as a Military Police Watch Commander and as the Provost Marshal’s Services Officer.

In November 2000, the MOI transferred to Military Police Company, 1st Force Service Support Group where he served as a platoon commander until February of 2001.

In February 2001, he was assigned as the Force Protection Officer for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit then deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in November 2001.  The MOI deployed again with the 15th MEU to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2003.

In July 2003, the MOI transferred to Expeditionary Warfare School at Quantico and graduated from the course in May 2004 when he was subsequently reassigned to 2d Military Police Battalion at Camp Lejeune.  While serving with 2d MP Bn, he deployed to Iraq in 2005 as the Battalion Operations Officer and Headquarters Company Commanding Officer, then deployed again to Iraq in 2006 as the Bravo Company CO.

In June of 2007 the MOI transferred and was assigned to his present duties at North Carolina State University.

 



The AMOI enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 6th of 1995 and
completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC during August 1995.
Following recruit training, the AMOI attended Infantry
Training Battalion at the School Of Infantry located at Camp Geiger, NC
where he earned the MOS (0331) as a machine gunner.

The AMOI reported to his first duty station at 1st Battalion
8th Marines in November of 1995 for duty as a gunner in Bravo Company.
There, he served as a team leader and eventually as the section leader
for the machine gun section of Bravo Company 1/8. The AMOI was promoted to the rank of Corporal on 1 October 1998.

The AMOI was then transferred to Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, NC for duty as a squad leader in February 1998. The AMOI was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 1 November 1998.

The AMOI was then transferred to Parris Island, SC to attend drill
instructor school in September 1999. Upon graduating from DI school, the AMOI was assigned to 1st recruit training battalion for duty as a drill
instructor. During his tour, AMOI served as a drill instructor for
four training cycles and as a Senior Drill Instructor for 3 training
cycles. In addition he also served as the testing Staff Noncommissioned
Officer in charge at the academic instruction unit. The AMOI was
meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on 2 January 2002.

The AMOI was then transferred to 1st Battalion 6th Marines for duty as a
Platoon Sergeant during January 2003. The AMOI served as a rifle
platoon sergeant for one deployment to Afghanistan and as the Scout
Sniper Platoon Sergeant for a deployment to Iraq. The AMOI was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant on 1 March 2006.

On May 8, 2006, the AMOI reported for duty as the Assistant Military
Officer Instructor at North Carolina State University.
