The Mission of the Naval ROTC Unit at NC State University is multi-faceted and can be summarized into the follwoing categories:

1. To develop midshipmen mentally, morally, and physically.
2. To imbue midshipmen with the highest ideals of duty, honor, and loyalty.
3. To commission college graduates as naval officers who posess a basic professional background and are motivated toward careers in the naval service.
4. To provide the potential for future development in mind and character so as to assume the highest responsibilites of command, citizenship, and government.
