	COOPERATIVE FISH AND WILDLIFE RESEARCH UNIT

The Cooperative Research Units Program was established to facilitate cooperation among the U.S. Department of the Interior, universities, state fish and wildlife agencies, and private organizations, by conducting programs of research and education related to fish and wildlife resource management. Accordingly, the North Carolina Coop Unit is jointly sponsored by the Department of the Interior's U.S. Geological Survey, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, NC State University, and the Wildlife Management Institute.

RESEARCH

Through a combination of basic and applied research, the Unit pursues innovative solutions to natural resource questions.

EDUCATION

By offering research assistantships and advising graduate students, the Unit contributes to the quality education of students interested in careers in fisheries, wildlife, and natural resource conservation.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

Unit research addresses the technical needs of Cooperators, as well as other state and federal agencies and private organizations.
